Building Smart with Safe and Durable Wall Assemblies Brochure

Presented by the British Columbia Building Envelope Council (BCBEC) and BC Housing

This half-day workshop focuses on the thermal and moisture performance of highly insulated wall assemblies for new and retrofit buildings. Industry experts discuss the latest research with practical solutions for building durable assemblies. The use of low permeance materials, insulation strategies, drainage systems, ventilation gaps, cladding attachments and the selection of curtain-wall components to enhance thermal performance are addressed.

This half-day workshop focused on the use of air and vapour barriers in single and multi-unit residential buildings. A panel of building envelope experts shared building science principles, design considerations and practical installation details. Speakers examined challenges and options for improving the durability, safety, comfort and energy efficiency of buildings through the effective use of barrier materials.

This half-day workshop focused on the design, construction, maintenance and remediation of basements and parkades in residential buildings. Industry leaders discussed code requirements, soil condition assessments, building systems, remediation strategies, and depreciation reports. Presentations showcased recent research studies in single and multi-unit residential buildings.

WORKSHOP ON WINDOW INSTALLATION

It's been another excellent partnership under the banner of the Building Smart series of seminars. A half-day workshop on window installation presented jointly by the Homeowner Protection Office (HPO) and the BC Building Envelope Council (BCBEC) in January 2012 is now available as an online webinar. The workshop attracted more than 250 industry professionals from across B.C. as well as participants from as far away as Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and parts of the US.
